Club Presentation Evening

HETHERSETT HAWKS / MYHILL DECORATORS had virtually a 100% turn-out of regular members and families at their annual Presentation Evening held at Hethersett Social Club.  Guest of Honour, rounding off a successful Golden Jubilee season, was Australian captain and twice World No.2 Cody Chadwick who, while based in Suffolk, regularly travelled up to inspire the first-team riders at Wednesday training.  As a mark of gratitude the riders donated a Club shirt to Cody for him to take back to Australia.

As well as recognising this season’s Club and Norfolk Champions on the evening, the Club also made some special awards.  Receiving the Best Newcomer award was George Larter-Dixon, Owen Wells picked up the Most Improved Junior trophy and the Secretary’s award of Club Member of the Tear was shared by the Wells family – Lisa, Kevin and Owen – for their commitment.

Team Managers were able to present their Riders of the Season.  Katie Adams presented the B team award to returning veteran Glyn Morgan for his role model to younger riders while first-team manager Dan Chambers picked out Harley Hamill for his overall commitment and team support.

Chambers himself stepped up to receive the Top Scorer award totalling 282 points in the League and the successful team performance in the European Club Championships in Poland.  The loudest cheer of the evening was for the prestigious Sportsperson of the Year Award which is nominated by members and club officials on the night – this year going to Kevin Wells.

Finally to recognise their achievement, members young and old who contributed to the B team finishing Runners-up in the South-East Division Two stepped up to receive medals.  All members are now eagerly awaiting the start of an innovative 2017 season in March as part of the new Cycle Speedway Competition Plan.
