HETHERSETT HAWKS /YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES had a father / son representation at the British Indoor Championships held in Coventry and both gave a good account of themselves adjusting to the tight track and sports hall surface.  Mason Martin raced in the Under-16 Final and finished 6th with 13 points that included a race win in heat 11. This was his first indoor racing experience.

It was the challenge of Dave Martin to do better in the Over-40s Final but he was up against an array of former British Champions.  He won two of his five races and finished in 7th place overall with 13 points.

Unfortunately, the Hawks had to pull out of the British Indoor Team competition due to illness and injury in the planned team. The event was won by regional rivals Ipswich.

We had further representation on Day 2 of the British Indoor Championships in Coventry.  After his 6th place in the Under-16 Championships, Mason Martin stayed over to contest the Under-14 Championship, an event in which he finished third in at the outdoor championships in August.

Despite his relative inexperience he performed well to again finish 6th, this time with 15 points after winning his first race. He will have picked up lots of tips and is expected to be a key member of the Hawks squad when the new outdoor season opens in March, ably supported by his Hawks legend father Dave.
