HETHERSETT HAWKS sponsored by YELLOWBRICK MORTGAGES  have had a busy week of racing starting with the first round of the Norfolk Grand Prix Series on Wednesday.  It was quite a quiet affair with Nyla taking the win in the U10’s, followed by Isaac in 2nd, Jax in 3rd and Etta in 4th.  The U14’s was won by Luca with Austin in 2nd place and Arlo in 3rd, with the final being called after a fall from Stanley on the last lap.

A sunny Saturday in East London for Round 2 of the SEGP saw a great day of racing from the younger generation of Hawks.  Levi opened the afternoon racing being the sole representative in the U8’s, confidently taking on Kesgrave.  After a run-off the A final, he didn’t bat an eyelid at taking on the B final by himself and elected to do all 3 laps, showing just how much he has blossomed since his first ever event.

All eyes were on Isaac and Nyla in the U10’s as they rode with spirit and determination, fighting for every point.  Both made to the A final as Isaac finished the heats on 12 points with Nyla on 11.  Places were reversed in the final as after an exciting race Nyla finished 3rd and Isaac 4th.  If today was any indication then this is set to be an exciting season between these two!

Arlo was flying solo in the U12’s against some strong rides from Kesgrave and Hellingly in his first visit to East London.  He did himself proud, finishing on 10 points and finding himself in a run-off for the A final.  Kesgrave proved to be tough to crack but he should have his head held high, taking the B final and finishing fifth overall.

The U14’s had all the Hethersett adults in fine cheering voice, churning out some exciting racing and making progress from Round 1.  Austin seemed at home on the track, liking the banked corners and wide straights.  Reliable as ever, Luca rode tactically and solidly through the heats whilst Tyler enjoyed experiencing another track and continued his impressive start to his first season, finishing with 9 points and 2nd in the C final.  Luca and Austin finished within 1 point of each other, both making the A final with Luca taking 3rd and Austin 4th.

Lola was the final youth rider being the only representative in the Girls Open for the Hawks.  She finished with 7 points and 3rd in the A final.  Dave was the only senior Hawk making the trip south and was the only club representative in the Vets.  He finished on 10 points and 2nd in the B final.  This rounded off a great day of racing and an excellent event put on by East London.

The Hawks continued their high on Sunday with their Division 2 and Youth matches against Kesgrave. Despite several races having to restart multiple times, the seniors rode solidly and consistently to take the win with 82 points to Kesgrave’s 77.  The Youth team benefitted from the senior team’s experience in team riding, trying to follow their guidance and riding well to take the win with 82 points to Kesgrave’s 78.
